Hi ladies – I’m sure you’ve heard all about menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and night sweats. We’re usually at least mentally prepared for these types of changes because we hear about them most often. Something that I, at least, wasn’t prepared for was vaginal atrophy, which is basically the thinning, drying, and overall irritation of the vaginal walls, (thanks to the drop in estrogen levels as we age).
All of that basically means that I am uncomfortable, itchy, dry, and irritated for most hours of the day. Forget calling a girlfriend or mom to talk about it, it feels awkward and quite frankly, too soon! I was convinced that this was it for me - I’d have to live with this forever. I felt a huge sigh of relief when I visited my doctor and she assured me that not only were these changes in my body completely natural and normal, but that there are also resources and products that can help alleviate some of those frustrating symptoms.
I did a little research as soon as I got home, and discovered Kindra.
Kindra offers a line of products that ease perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms that include wellness supplements and lotion. What really sold me on Kindra, though, was their mission: to destigmatize talking about menopause and empower people experiencing hormonal changes to care for (and love!) their bodies. They have an online community of women supporting other women, with super informative blog articles and a Facebook group called “Menopause Support and Straight-Talk”, where you can connect to others going through the same thing.
After taking their online quiz and figuring out which of their products were best for me, I bought their daily lotion and applicator. You can really tell that Kindra products are made by women for women; the applicator is easy to hold and intuitively designed, and the lotion is light, non-greasy, and super hydrating. It was so easy to use, I just applied 2 pumps of lotion to the tip of the applicator, applied to the tender skin down there, and washed the applicator to store in a convenient pouch for next time. I honestly couldn’t believe it—I immediately felt some relief. Kindra products are also formulated with clinically-studied ingredients, and are OB/GYN approved. I like that their products are estrogen-free, paraben-free, and fragrance-free, made for even the most sensitive skin.
After using the lotion as needed for a few weeks, my symptoms completely disappeared. No more shifting uncomfortably in my seat and looking like I need to go to the bathroom, no more fear of intimacy, and no more mental monologues about the terrors of menopause.
I also did my research before buying the product, and all the reviews I read said the same thing about the relief of their symptoms (everything from dryness to low libido and painful sex). Some of their user stats to note: 95% of women report meaningful improvement in dryness, 93% rave about long-lasting hydration, and 80% say it feels like natural lubrication.
It’s time to destigmatize talking about peri and post-menopause, as well as the products we might need in order to handle it. Kindra does an amazing job of creating an open platform and welcoming community for those of us dealing with it, and they’ve created products that work, making menopause a little less daunting.
