Interview With The DJs Behind | Cat Dealers

This week we caught up with the Cat Dealers!

What is Music to you? How would you define it?

Music for us is everything. It is what moves us. We work with it 24/7 and it's our priority. It's a passion that became our life!

Where did your interest in music stem from and when did you start producing music together?

We started producing electronic music back in 2013. There were some electronic tracks that we were really obsessed with and so we started looking into how these were produced. I (Pedro) have been playing drums since 2002 and Luigi's been fascinated with electronic music since he was 9 years old. We felt the curiosity for producing in 2013 and after a few years of making music we began DJing in 2016.

If you hadn't both pursued a career in music, what do you think you would be doing today?

I have no idea to be honest! I (Pedro) was working in advertising and design before it all started so that's probably what I would have continued doing. Luigi started producing aged 15 whilst he was still in school so it's all he's ever thought about doing, but he does love business so he might have ended up having his own business.

What was the inspiration behind your most recent track "Keep On Lovin"?

"Keep On Lovin'" is a love track with a strong melodic core. When Le Dib sent us the vocals, we fell in love and really wanted to work on it. The production process was actually really fast, the vocals guided us to what we created.

Who would you most like to collaborate with on a track?

That's a tough question since there are so many inspirational artists that we'd love to work with. I guess if we had to choose, it would be Skrillex and Flume. We are already working with people that inspire us, but it's a secret for now!

Do you prefer performing in clubs or at festivals?

Both are pretty cool and completely different. I think clubs have a more intimate vibe while festivals are more energetic. I mean clubs can be energetic too but since you are closer to the crowd it does feel more intimate. We've loved playing both and have learned a lot.

Is there one goal that you've been striving to achieve since starting your musical journey?

Our main goal is to be internationally recognized and travel the world playing to big crowds. It's been our goal since the beginning and we are now starting to achieve it!

What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?

We've had many great moments since we started. First time we played at ULTRA Brazil was awesome and playing Rock In Rio was also amazing. Lollapalooza was unforgettable, and recently we played at Medusa Festival in Spain for a great crowd. It is difficult to point out a specific highlight because I think all of them are equally important.

Where can fans see you perform over the next few months? Any shows that you are looking forward to in particular?

We have many big gigs in Brazil and around the world. In Brazil, we are opening for Shakira on her tour and playing the biggest dance music festivals and clubs. We have gigs in China and Mexico in October, Australia in November, and Asia again in December, so we are really looking forward to the coming months!

How would you sum up your music in two words?

Hahaha that's hard as well. I guess it would be passion and lifestyle!
