From bedroom DJ to sold-out events, Jesse has navigated the industry with passion and dedication. Join us as we uncover his journey and learn about the highs and lows of his exciting career.
Jesse Rosen is a well-known figure in the entertainment industry. He started his journey as a bedroom DJ back in college, playing music for his roommates and trying to hone his craft. After graduating, he started looking for opportunities to DJ in New York City and landed his first gig at a pizza place. From there, he hustled to get more gigs at top venues like One Oak and Up and Down, and eventually started his own events, selling out 500-person venues during the holidays.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to his plans. But Jesse didn't let that stop him. During New Year's 2021, he found himself in Miami and was asked to DJ at a hotel. The event was a huge success, and Jesse decided to stay in Miami for five months, where he found a club and started booking artists. When COVID-19 started to die down, he moved back to New York and continued his work in the entertainment industry.
Jesse is now working with a variety of different artists, hosting all types of parties, from disco to headliners. He sees techno's rise in the past year, while tech house has somewhat run its course. He also predicts that bass house will make a comeback, with two sides to the dance music scene. But Jesse knows that it's not just about the music – it's about creating a fan base and building a business.
Advice For Aspiring DJs
For those who want to break into the entertainment industry, Jesse's advice is to keep striving and networking. But he cautions that just DJ-ing and making music isn't enough. Building a following is key, and everything is a business at the end of the day. Clubs need ROI, no matter how big or small they are. Jesse recommends putting in time to build a following while also focusing on creating great music.
Favorite Venues
When it comes to favorite venues, Jesse names Music as the biggest music house venue in Manhattan. He also likes Mirage, but acknowledges that it can be too crowded at times. While Palace isn't a typical house music spot, Jesse always has a good time there.
Jesse's Current Projects
Jesse's focus now is on expanding his entertainment group. He and his team have leased a new office and are hiring full-time staff. They're also saying goodbye to RoseGold and a couple of other companies, and are instead focusing on their college company, where they throw concerts at the college market. They're also opening up new venues in New York, including the recently purchased Headless Horseman in Union Square, which they've renovated and rebranded as The High Note.
Final Thoughts
Jesse Rosen's journey in the entertainment industry is a testament to the power of hard work and perseverance. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he's continued to thrive in the industry, focusing on building a fan base and expanding his business. With a keen eye for emerging trends in dance music and a passion for creating unforgettable events, Jesse is a true trailblazer in the entertainment world.
